This delicious tropical music developed
around WWII on the Southern Caribbean island of
Trinidad and Tobago. Classic steel band music features
a variety of sizes of steel drum from lead pans
(melody), mid-size pans (chords and harmony), and
bass pans (a very large 55 gallon steel drum). Percussion
can be added using congas, bongos, timbales, cowbells,
shakers and drums. The extended Caribbean band is
better for large dances and up-tempo affairs such
as an evening wedding party or Caribbean theme
entertainment. Modern more economical and easier
to transport, a smaller group can consist of 2 or
3 steel drum players who also use keyboards for
chords, bass and percussion parts. Modern electronics
have created very high quality instrumental sounds
that are nearly unmistakable for the real steel
band instruments. The big advantage, is that you
do not need the large "bass pans" that
require trucks to move them about! A smaller band
is appropriate for events that require a Caribbean
"atmosphere", such as a wedding or corporate
event.

| North Stars
Steel Orchestra
The North Stars Steel Orchestra is one of the hottest
authentic live Caribbean Steel Bands in the UK.
They are the UK’s Steel Band Champions 2002
/ 2003. Held as part of the Notting Hill Carnival,
the competition is keenly contested and they are
the first non-London steelband to win this highly
prestigious award. The North Star's are highly versatile
and will enhance a party’s tropical feeling.
They can appeal to the head, heart & pelvis
in equal measure! They perform year-round at parties,
weddings, corporate and special events, festivals,
restaurants, hotels and country clubs creating an
irresistible carnival atmosphere.

| Paradise
Steel Band
The Paradise Steel Band was formed way back in
1962 in Leeds, West Yorkshire, and they are now
well known as one of the most experienced Caribbean
Bands in Yorkshire. The Paradise Steel Band plays
traditional Caribbean music, as well as some traditional
English styles. They can cater for all your needs
and play for any occasion. Many people hire the
musicians for their wedding reception. Here they
either perform their classic Caribbean music during
the drinks reception and the wedding breakfast or
to play for the evening wedding party where the
steel band music is primarily geared towards dancing.
The talented musicians have earned a solid and trusted
reputation as polished professionals who have the
appropriate Caribbean look, sound and attitude you
expect for your event. They play a sweet mix of
calypso, reggae and island music to ensure a great
reaction.
